As preparation for the 2019 Festival of Sound begins to gather speed, we thought our visitors would appreciate a look-ahead at some of the great artists and guest speakers who have provisionally agreed (subject to contract) to participate in this years show.
At this stage our exact line-up and timings are all still TBA, so please do check back as our schedule is, by degrees, confirmed.
Guest speakers & seminars
Leading music journalist and biographer for David Bowie, Freddie Mercury & Marc Bolan, Lesley will be talking about her amazing career of almost forty years in the music industry, and her upcoming autobiography.
Lesley will also be doing book signings of her many celebrated biographies, and will be in conversation with Tessa Niles (below).
This legendary British backing singer and vocal arranger has performed with Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Duran Duran, EBTG, Tears For Fears, Sting, Dusty Springfield, and the Police, to name just a few.
Tessa will be in conversation with Lesley-Ann Jones (above), and this chat between two of the music industry’s leading ladies is much anticipated. Tessa will also be doing a book signing with her autobiography.
Haydn is an Oscar winning sound engineer and producer, celebrated in both studio and film. He was a senior engineer at Abbey Road for over twenty years, and is very closely associated with Kate Bush.
His portfolio includes Paul McCartney, the Alan Parsons Project, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Gary Moore, Pat Metheny, Chris Botti, Van Morrison, Tina Turner, and Massive Attack, whilst his film soundtracks include Brazil, The Last Emperor, Scandal, Twin Peaks and Nocturnal Animals.
He will be talking about his career with audio & visual elements and will be taking a Q&A session.
Martin R. Smith
This celebrated producer and director is responsible for such greats as the Classic Albums TV documentary series, Jeff Beck: Still On The Run, The Genesis Songbook, Beatles:1, and Beatles: Let It Be restoration, with Peter Jackson.
Martin will be talking about his career and the many people he has met along the way, from Brian Wilson to Steely Dan. His presentation will include audio and visual elements and an audience Q&A session too.
Antonio Forcione & Chris Kimsey
They will be talking about the recording of some of Antonio’s albums, comparing Antonio’s live performance to the master recordings, and taking an audience Q&A session too.
